Are smart EV chargers worth it?
For most homes, yes — scheduling to off-peak power and (if you have solar) charging from surplus can cut running costs significantly over the life of the charger, and load management avoids expensive switchboard upgrades. We set it all up as part of the install.
Can a smart charger use my solar power?
Yes — solar-aware chargers (like the myenergi Zappi and others) can charge only from your excess solar, so you use energy you'd otherwise export cheaply. We configure solar matching when we commission the charger.
Which smart charger is best?
It depends on whether you have solar, single or three-phase power, and whether you want tethered or untethered. Popular smart chargers include the Zappi, Wallbox, Tesla Wall Connector and Autel — we recommend the right one for your home, or install one you've already bought.
